Part 1 relates to Englishmen and the Mexican Inquisition, 1559-1577, and contains transcripts, translations, and photocopies of documents in the Archivo General de la Nación in Mexico, from the private Biblioteca Conway, and from other sources both public and private, concerning members of Sir John Hawkins' expedition to Mexico, their capture and subsequent trial. Part 2 consists of transcripts and translations of miscellaneous 16th-18th century papers relating to the Spanish in America, the Philippines, and Japan.
